Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before setting sail on Lake Travis.
1Do I need sailing experience?
Not at all! No sailing experience is required for our captained excursions. Our crew handles all the sailing — you just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. If you'd like to learn and participate, we're happy to teach you the basics.
2What should I bring on the sail?
We recommend bringing sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and a light jacket or windbreaker. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes with non-marking soles (or go barefoot). You're welcome to bring your own food and drinks aboard.
3Where do I park?
Parking is available near our location at 16406 Stewart Road, Austin, TX 78734. We'll provide detailed parking instructions when you book your sail. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your scheduled departure time.
4What happens if the weather is bad?
Safety is our top priority. If weather conditions are unfavorable for sailing, we'll contact you to reschedule your sail. We monitor conditions closely and will make the call as early as possible so you can plan accordingly.
5How many people can the boat accommodate?
Please contact us for details on our boat's capacity. We offer both smaller intimate sails and can accommodate groups for events like bachelorette parties. Let us know your group size when booking and we'll make sure everyone is comfortable.
6Can I bring food and drinks?
Yes! You're welcome to bring your own snacks, food, and beverages (including alcohol for guests 21+). We recommend easy-to-handle items. Just please help us keep the boat clean.
7How do I book a sail?
The best way to book is to call us at (512) 222-3634 or email steve@sailatx.com. You can also fill out the contact form on our website. We'll confirm availability and help you choose the perfect sailing experience.

9Is the boat safe for children?
Yes, sailing is a wonderful family activity. Life jackets are available in various sizes. We ask that parents supervise children at all times while on board. Please let us know the ages of any children in your group when booking.
